Introduction: The improvement of the training of professionals constitutes a current challenge for Medical Education, which is why it is necessary to resize the management process of the methodological work that is developed in it, in this research, the trends of the methodological work management process in the Medicine career at the University of Medical Sciences of Pinar del Río were determined.
Methods: Observational, descriptive and cross-sectional research with an intentional sample of 58 directors and teachers of the Medicine career during the 2023 academic year. Empirical, theoretical and statistical methods were used.
Results: 56 % of managers and teachers have insufficient knowledge of the management of methodological work and the regulations that regulate it. Only 60 % of the heads of departments and methodological groups conceive the methodological work plan taking as a starting point a balance of the strengths and weaknesses of the previous period. The management of the methodological work at the level of the departments and methodological groups, is affected by limiting itself to complying with the guidelines of higher levels, as reported by 90 % of the teachers. The methodological activities that are carried out do not always have conceptual elements of pedagogy, particularly didactic, as their starting point.
Conclusions: The management process of the methodological work that is developed in the Medicine career of the University of Medical Sciences of Pinar del Río presents inadequacies that can be solved and thereby contribute to the quality of the professional training process.
